Javier Rochel (dancer)

Javier is a mexican-american artist from El Paso/Ciudad Juárez based in Queens, NYC. Inspired by his sister, he started to dance when he was eleven in different Mexican Folk local groups, at the same time he took part in different Musical Theatre school productions in Mexico City and his hometown. In 2019, Rochel received a Bachelor in Dance from Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Hidalgo, graduated with honors, afterwards he got scholarships to train with Joffrey Ballet School in Texas in their Ballet Training Program under the direction of Thelma Flores (where he also worked as Resident Administrator of Housing and Program Coordinator for the Mexico Summer Intensive) and Ballet Hispánico SoD Pa’lante Professional Studies directed by Rodney Hamilton. He has completed as well different intensives with JBS, BH, Complexions Dance Academy and Martha Graham School. Professionally he was an apprentice with Ballet Folklórico de Mexico de Amalia Hernández in 2018 and participated with Mexico’s Compañía Nacional de Danza in the Swan Lake 2018 season, both in Palacio de Bellas Artes. Performed in the Thanksgiving Macy’s Parade 2021 and was Ensamble/Soloist with Calpulli Mexican Dance Company. As well, Rochel has taught in different public and private dance schools and studios within the United States and Mexico. In 2023, he started working as an arts administrator with Steps on Broadway and Ballet Hispánico SoD. Rochel is very proud to be a new addition with Ballet Nepantla.
